Initiatives of ASCPF France for a IFWP

1983

Annual meeting Budapest:

Decisions to design a logo, a information booklet and a membership card.

1983
Annual meeting Budapest:

Decision to do not become a member of CIC because of the difference in ethics, although the CIC has a department for photography. IFWP decides to stay independent. CIC is a correspondent member of IFWP (e.g.without the right to vote) allready.

1984-'85

ASPN Switzerland and SICF Italy left IFWP because of the relationship of IFWP with an organisation for hunting (CIC).

1986-87-88
Annual meetings:

 

Discussions about interpretation of membership/relationship of an organisation with hunters (CIC). 3 members has left IFWP: SICF Italy, ASPN Switzerland and RSPB Gr Britain. After a change of presidents in the IFWP 2 former members came back, RSPB Gr Britain in 1989 and ASPN Switzerland in1993.

Annual meeting Sweden:

Decision to make a Brochure for attracting new members. Images for the borchure are send in by the active members and the brochure is printed and distributed finally in 1992. The brochure is attached.

Annual meeting Sweden:

Decision to make a book with all national laws and rules concerning nature photography. (The book is never made because of the associations had difficulties to collect the information of their countries. Rules etc. are changing sometimes. And after several years the book plan is cancelled.

Decision for an IFWP logo to be used on all IFWP papers etc. This logo is the present one.

Start of a membership card for all members of associated societies.

Idea for an annual 'picture of the year' contest.
Till now there was a yearly exposition at the meeting, but no contest. The first contest is in 1993.

Annual meeting Austria:

Decision that organisations who owe the membership fee for 2 years and are not willing to pay the outstanding amount in good time or who are not explaining their situation satisfactory to the board shall be excluded from th IFWP by registered mail. The treasurer will inform the respective organisations.

Decision to create a digital www homepage. Homepage editor for the first year is Beate Stipanits (president).

Annual meeting Netherlands:

Decision that individual persons can join the IFWP as associated members.

Annual meeting Sweden:

Decision to make a competition for a nature photography book of the year

2003
Election of a book of the Year:

Initiative and organisation by the president Matti Torkkomäki. Open Competition, participants from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, France, Germany and Japan.
Winner: 'Jag har sett' by Jan-Peter Lahall, Sweden
Second best: ' The World of Kuribayashi, Satoshi' by Kuribayashi, Satoshi

2003
Annual meeting, Poland:

Decision that the society that is responsible for the organisation of the meeting in a particular year does not have to pay the annual fee for that year.

2005
Election of a book of the Year:

Organisation by the president Matti Torkkomäki. Open competition, participants: eight books from the Chech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, 2 from Sweden (a book from each of 2 associations). The judges were from the BBC Wildlife Magazine, UK: The editor Sophie Stafford and art director Simon Bishop.
Winner: 'Moments in the Forest' by Lin Meiki.
Second best: 'Lyspunkt' by the Norske Naturfotografer/NN

2008
Annual meeting Netherlands:

The general assembly decided that individuals (correspondants) may enter the IFWP with a 10euros contribution, it allows them to joint the activities except the contest & the General assembly. They will be encouraged to create an association in their own country to enter the IFWP as whole member. If more than 10 correspondants enter IFWP, they could be considerate as a group, with one vote in the general assembly & possibility to enter the contest. (the princip is: one club, one member, one vote.

Annual meeting Switzerland:

Two new members enter the IFWP: Naturfotografer i Danmark (NFD) & the Cornwall Wildlife Trust Photographic Group (CWTPG).

About individual membership: this has to be promoted on the website. Decided is also that individuals members can enter the competition with only 2 photos in regard of 18 photos /club.

The results of the IFWP competittion of each year, from now on, are invited for a foto-exhibition on the big Nature foto festival in Montier-en-Dèr in France.
